Low tide modulator background noise and static noise

Hey guys,

I just finished my low tide build, but I'm having issues with it. There is this background noise and static noise which is always present and it changes when I adjust the mix knob. However, it's noisy no matter how I turn the knobs, except for if I turn down the level/volume. I have tried biasing the gate and BBD switch for hours on end with no results, I have made sure that all the IC's and transistors are the correct way, and I have made sure there are no soldering bridges and none of the components or wires are touching something it shouldn't.

I've used every component required without substituting them with anything else.

Below, you can see an image of the pedal and I've uploaded some audio files as well.

I did a bit of audio probing, and there's no signal coming through the Depth, Damp, or Rate controls on any of the pins. I have tried turning them all the way up and all the way down with no difference. There's no signal coming through any of the pins on the LM78L08 transistor either. Does this give any clues to what the issue might be?

I also checked that there are no soldering bridges. As you can see from the picture, the pots are quite bent as I had to do that to get them to fit the enclosure, but I soldered them after bending, so I know the connection is good.

I want to do some audio probing, but I'm just not experienced enough to know if I've identified an issue or not with it.

Can anyone help?

Have a scout on the forum for troubleshooting docs. There are some top class ones here. They’ll explain how to follow the audio path through the circuit using a probe and other tips. Post clear pix of board top and bottom as well as off board wiring for now as a start 😉

Looking at your board, try wiggling the transistors a bit to make sure they’re properly seated.

Best of luck in solving this.
