m800 build looking for j201

I am getting parts for the m800 build. I am a bit confused by the j201. It looks like the usual transistor shape:

But I have seen comments here saying to use the pre-soldered board:

That is ok, but how does that fit the pcb? I guess there is room below the trimmer, but use 3 posts?

You just solder three pins to the adapter board and you have equivalent of the usual through hole transistor.
