Mach 1 Overdrive / Greer Lightspeed build

I think I first heard about the Lightspeed last year and it piqued my interest. I wasn't about to spend $200 on a simple op amp based overdrive when I knew I could build one for peanuts. This was built mostly to the build doc specs, but I didn't have the OPA2134 op amp on hand, so I stuck a TL072 in the socket for now. Also didn't have a 3.9k resistor handy, so I used a 3.3k. Should just make it a hair louder since it's part of the negative feedback loop on the second half of the op amp. You can also see I didn't have A10K and A100K pcb mounted pots, so I had to rig legs up with stripped solid core wire lol. Seems pretty sturdy so far.

I didn't realize what was going on, but looking at the schematic the tone control is actually a bass cut before the output volume, like an OCD. Pretty slick design idea. I find the tone knob useable through the entire sweep. I've been jamming around with it through my Hot Rod Deluxe using my Mustang with the Emerald/Purple Lace Sensors. I can see a real kind of John Mayer type vibe in that sense that it's dynamic while adding that bit of grit and drive. Going to test it with humbuckers later and through my Orange to see what kind of tones I get.
