Howdy all. I sold the Mach 1 pedal I built a few months ago to a friend. Ever since then I've missed it. So I decided to build 2 new ones! I built one in a 125b enclosure, and one in a 1590b enclosure. I built one in a 1590b box because despite what people say, sometimes smaller is better... or at least that's what I choose to believe. I won't go into a lot of detail around the sound of the Mach 1 (which is modeled after the Greer Lightspeed circuit). I won't go on about how organic and natural it sounds. I don't think the internet needs one more person going on about how "transparent" this overdrive is. If people want a signal processor that is sooo transparent, why don't they just stick two 1/4" jacks into an enclosure and wire them directly together. That would be just about as transparent an overdrive as possible. I digress, I do really like this circuit though. For the artwork and graphics I laser etched the enclosures with Omark laser spray on them. This is quickly becoming my favorite way to create pedal graphics. Here's a little info on the artwork I decided on for these two pedals.
First the 1590b. I went more in the direction of a direct parody by using a similar font and layout to the original Greer Lightspeed pedal. Instead of the Lightspeed moniker, I went with "Lil' c". This is to pay homage to the symbol used in math and science to represent the speed of light, a lower case "c", or as some might say in the streets, "Lil' c". I also parodied the original pedals "Organic Overdrive" tagline.
Onto the 125b enclosure. I found out that the use of lower case "c" to represent the speed of light is derived from the word celerity. Celerity is a word that means swift and is not used much in modern times, so I stuck a graphic on the enclosure that felt appropriate for the word and named it "Celerity Pace". I think its funny to image a 19th century gentleman yelling out "Celerity Pace!" and hopping onto his Penny Farthing. I think I will end up selling this one. No need to have two around I suppose.
Let me know if you think I am making a mistake on which one to keep and which to sell. Thanks!
