Midi Switcher Discussion

This popped up on my feed and it looks like a killer piece of gear (albeit not DIY) even just for use on a bench or to try out new pedals in different places in your chain, but I wondered if others had thoughts or knew of alternatives that they prefer. I have never felt the need to buy midi capable pedals but I have definitely been interested in a switcher with order preset capabilities. Am I fooling myself?

Awesome- I used to check their site to see if that thing was released yet.

I think it’s really cool to have the capability, but I don’t find myself wanting to change the order of things on the fly that often. I figure when I want to try that out, I can have a 3PDT order switcher with two order switchers connected to it.

loop4 loop3 loop2 loop1
order order
order

I do like being able to save presets though. I use a 4 loop programmable switcher. I have a DL4 mkII listening for PC messages from the switcher. Sometimes the only difference between one preset and another is what loads on the DL4.

I could use something like this to add another 4 loops to my setup.

I can't say I would change the order of things often, but if I suddenly had that choice it could be a fun tool to put a phaser in front of a drive or flip your delay and reverb for some texture changes. Even just to swap between preamps at the front and back of my drive chain.

Super cool idea for switching loops.... I think I will probably snag one of these at some point.

There's also the Morningstar one, with 5 re-orderable loops (or the big one with 10 loops):
