A retrosonic chorus/vibrato i have uses this IC. (CE-1 Clone)
It distorts a bit while playing, mostly when playing lower register E A and D strings.
There's a bias trimpot for the voltage setting of the IC which I turned while having a looper with a couple of chords run inbto the pedal.
It's getsa little less distortionin a certain setting but it's not gone completely.
I searched to get a replacement 3002..
Well.. damn... I didn't expect prices like that..
Is there a drop in replacement ?
Google etc says not, but maybe a forumer here knows of one?

BBD's don't just clip slightly more if they've gone bad.

Are you sure the clipping is coming from the BBD and not the preamp? Have you checked the clock signal is producing a decent square wave? What about the voltages on the BBD besides bias?

Well, by turning the trimpot a few times cw and ccw, the distorted signal vanished!
So, for now I'm leaving it as it is😅
Will report back if the distortion comes back.
Can't find any schematic of this specific pedal though.
I know its a tweaked CE-1, that's about it.
