Mojito...

Went to a bar for the first time tonight, an "Irish public house". Really cozy place, very lively and refreshing.

Asked the bartender for a Mojito and she said "absolutely not" so I asked for an Old Fashioned because that's all I remember from DIY cocktails videos 😭

I guess I have a lot to learn, but I am now on a quest for a Mojito.

The best Mojito I ever had was at a restaurant in the Old Town section of Montreal.

You should try making them yourself because the number one mistake bars make when mixing up a Mojito is making it too sweet. The #2 mistake is using shitty rum.

Build Doc:
3 shots aged Caribbean rum
handful of mint leaves
1 tsp agave nectar (or sub 1.5 tsp white sugar)
1/2 lime
chilled club soda
ice cubes

Put mint leaves (no stems!) into a stainless steel shaker and bruise 'em with a muddle stick or shillelagh.
Add rum & agave nectar.
Cut 1/2 lime into 4 pieces, squeeze pieces lightly into shaker, then toss them in. The idea here it to get a hint of lime flavor.
Add ice until shaker is 1/2 full.
Invert tall glass in the top of shaker (if you don't have a glass that fits, then just put the top on the shaker).
Shake vigorously.
Remove glass (or shaker top) and pour contents into glass.
Gently fill shaker 1/2 full of club soda.
Pour shaker into glass.
Enjoy.

I'm just worried that somewhere up there, way up in space, there's a satellite about to switch into overdrive. Or fuzz. I wonder how well Russian germanium transistors work in space?

In space no-one can hear a tube scream.

I do want to get into mixology a bit. My friend was given a bottle of Port Dundas 18-year scotch for his birthday, but he hates hard stuff. So I want to find some creative ways to help him chip away at it. Although, $120 scotch might be best served by itself...

I have a lot of fresh mint in the garden... so now there's two Mojitos on my DIY radar ;)

If you must, scotch and ginger is big in my family. If you hate scotch ol Schweppes will get it in the bloodstream with ease. I'm more into whisky neat when it gets fancy tho.
