Mouser and Digikey search game changer?

I just opened both sites (on my phone), entered TL022 (for the Cepheid and my DuoPhase build which ticks a bit with TL072) and only a handful of results showed up and there was no endless selection of filters to sift through to find one item out of hundreds of thousands! If the search has gotten this good for all components, I may start using these more than Tayda. How’s you guys’ experience been recently?

For ICs I search by name, then filter by package type (assuming I want through-hole stuff) and “in stock”. That gets rid of about 90% of the chaff.

For resistors and caps I put in a few more attributes like type, tolerance, voltage rating, etc.

Of course now you also have to look at the per-item tariff (I was making some carts yesterday and they were ranging from 10% to 50-something% on certain things) as well as the price, to figure out which one is actually the best deal.

A ‘Filter by tariff percentage’ wouldn’t be a bad add, honestly.

Yeah but it’s gotten a lot better. I searched for BC109 and I only had to choose “transistors” and then the two relevant results showed up:

I've always like the filtering system at Mouser. And TBH, it does seem to work faster now and the returned results are less filled with chaff. DigiKey has always been very slow for me (still is - I'm thinking it's my location) and use it rarely.

On this side, I have had issues trying to filter stuff lately... as soon as one category is not properly documented (no values listed) selecting a filter removes it. So when trying to filter caps by ESR, as soon as a cap doesn't have one documented by mouser, it doesn't show. Even if the manufacturer datasheet actually has the info.

Could also be that my search skills are shit.

That does make sense to me though unless I'm misunderstanding the issue. Can't filter for something that hasn't been entered into the database. The issue is more that data isn't always entered correctly or at all on Mouser's end, even if a spec appears in the manufacturer's datasheet.

Yeah that's what I meant. Been finding more not-entered or plain out wrong entries in crucial parameters lately (lol at some high voltage caps with capacitance or voltage that's not matching in part number and mouser entry... what do I trust send help) and that has been making my life hard.

I think I've been ignoring my account email address for just that reason 🤣😅😑 between the Nichicon th electros I like, STM diodes, and such…

But i think generally search has gotten better for semiconductors. A rare few are exclusive to each provider, but I've bounced between them over the years.

I am lazy, I find the Mouser part I want then find the part of the Mouser number that corresponds to the entire product line like 603-MFR-25FBF52 for Yageo bulk resistors.

That said, lately with end of life and some crazy price hikes plus tariffs, been searching a little more, mix and matching.

May check out the app but as neurotic as I am, triple check against my inventory and project spreadsheet on my computer.
