Muzzle is suddenly over gating and distorting

So I just finished this build like three weeks ago and it worked great but now for some reason it’s like it’s gating really hard and I have to have the threshold all the way down. Even just with clean tone it’s sounding distorted. The four transistors were socketed so hopefully that’s the easy fix.

Sudden theory about my failures while at work:

for some silly reason I socketed the led and it was huge PITA to get bent the right way and the right length to sit in the socket. I remember thinking jeez this might pop out or get bent into the underside of the board. At first the pedal worked flawlessly so it wasn’t touching I assume.

randomly it just gets farty and gatey and the led flickers and doesn’t seem to open green to orange like it was and it’s most likely touching the tl072 which looks like it’s important in terms of the input signal and the keying jack as well as the THAT chip. Going to open this up tonight and see what’s going on but it’s the simplest explanation I can think of.
