MY KINGDOM FOR A 10uF 25V CAPACITOR! (three actually)

OK...the shipping for my online order is now delayed and won't get here until MONDAY! Two pedals fully soldered up except for three 10uF capacitors -- I ran out. Stupid of me I know, but I ordered replacements last week and DigiKey had some weird shipping delay.

But you know what else is stupid. Radio Shack, gone. Small electronics shops, gone. Closest Micro Center (like Frys on the East Cost) like an hour drive each way so I don't have time to run down there. ARGH. I've been looking sideways at various wall warts and obsolete electronics...

(I'm in Coastal CT near Bridgeport -- if anybody has an idea where I could run out to LMK...this is annoying not having every need immediately gratified!)

What are you building? Depending on where they are (if they're in a charge pump circuit) you might can substitute them with the nearest value you have.

Two pedals. The first is the Viceroy (Boneyard Edition). These are C10 and C11 in the mu-amp right where the magic happens. The second one is the Cataclysm Delay. I'm missing c5 which is near the 5v regulator just off of Vref. Maybe that one I could substitute with something higher?

Thanks for the suggestion! I hadn't thought of that. Particularly for the latter one, it seems like it's a filter cap that could be a different value.

For the first one I'm a bit out of my depth as to what change a different value for C10/C11 would do.

You can substitute C5 in the Cataclysm with something higher, 22uF - 100uF.

For the Viceroy, you could double up two 4.7uFs in parallel to get 9.4uF, or two 22uF in series to get 11uF, both would be close enough.

They don't really have to be 25V unless you're going to power it at 18V.

Thanks this is really helpful! So here's where I'm a little out of my depth. For the Viceroy, better to go higher (11) or lower (9.4) in that part of the circuit?

Hey @Robert thanks for the help yesterday. I had the time last night to get the Cataclysm Delay wired up, and minus a fried stomp switch and one cold solder joint, it was pretty straightforward and sounds great. I'll try the Viceroy this weekend. (I already made one of these and it sounds spectacular, so my guitar teacher wants one.)

The gain will be higher/lower respectively.... I can't say if it would or wouldn't be audible, but probably not enough for concern considering tolerance.
