Need help finding a bass preamp to build

I am building a complete diy amp less bass board. It’ll run through a nobellium at the end, as I mostly play clean. I want to add in some grit occasionally and fell in love with the SGFX Beta V in the low gain settings where it adds a bit of growl. I will have other pedals for higher distortion. The answer is probably just to buy a Beta V but I want to build my own. Can anyone recommend a pcb that’s similar in the low gain slight distortion? I liked the sound with the LPF off if that helps. I was considering a Vintage microtubes, but it tends to have a lot more high end than I’d like. Any suggestions would be appreciated. Edit: to clarify I am looking for something that is “always on” depending on the song or gig.

The Wren and Cuff Phat Phuk B, with external bias control, might be something.
Fuzzdog and Moonn sell a PCB for that, or do it on vero.
I second this suggestion, I've been using one with my Nobelium for this very purpose. I recently built the moonn big bass bro which is a 3 knob Super Phat Phuk B that includes an hpf. I had already built the 2 knob vero layout but being able to tame the lows is actually pretty nice. I've been going back and forth between the phuk and a capsize (fliptop) thinking I would prefer the capsize with the included cabsim but I've been stepping on the phuk much more. They are definitely both worth building for that grimey almost clean thing though they sound quite different.

My open source bass preamp design on its own is mostly about squeaky clean, with a more or less Alembic based resonant LPF section, but it's also possible to pull Wal style grit out of it. Where it really shines is in smoothing out and fine tuning grit or fizz from other pedals or from instruments (including active ones) though, IMO. Chuck D Bones bass Klon
PPCB Lamb Chop (Way Huge Pork Loin a popular choice before bass dirt pedals were as plentiful)
Madbean Gas Tank
Madbean Sludgehammer
Boss ODB-3

I second the Chuck D Bones bass klon as a dirt pedal. Doesn't muddy up, plus the bend on the gain is perfect for bass.

I really like (but this might be overkill) the Aion Lab Series L4, the Traynor TS-50, and the Acoustic 360 preamp projects. All are cool and all are very different from each other.

Sounds like a good DUAL pedal combo — subtle flavour-swaps and less pedalboard real-estate overall.

@Diynot — you mentioned ODB-3; is there a straight up clone-PCB for that?
I've been looking for one and all I've found is the GCI N.E.W. BassOD, which has mods.

I did not like the OBD-3. I worked with a bass player to audition some mods and here’s what we ended up with. I think several of these ideas came from somewhere online, maybe some from Wampler.

The Chuck D Bones bass Klon rocks, no changes.
