Well believe it or not, I ordered it from Porter Pickups. Most of the places that had them wanted stupid money for it. Like $18. Or they were out of stock. Or it was coming from China...I had a "free shipping" coupon for Porter and got one of theirs. It was still pricey for a hunk of steel.
I was tempted to make my own. But it was $13 shipped.
Re: Raw Nickel, I guess I have a bit of an aversion to the super shiney chrome covers. I generally go for nickel, but I love the way raw nickel looks and it should age naturally pretty nicely. I ordered a set of raw nickel covers for the PRS 245 hum buckers that came out of this 245, these will be going into the other project. Not a fan of the Zebra look.

I think my baseplate was about £12 shipped so about the same price as yours.
I'm not a fan of chrome either, I like the colour of nickel and love how it ages. I like the look of raw nickel in pictures but I've never seen it in person.
I'm a big fan of zebra but with humbuckers just always prefer a cover. That's why I normally ask for zebra bobbins with nickel covers. No one else can see them but I know they're there as sad as that is. I think I've only removed covers twice. Once on a set of Mojos and again with some burstbuckers, both times I was changing magnets. I put them back on the burstbuckers but didn't bother with the Mojos.
Kinda like me and my "mojo" Russian PIO tone caps. No one can see them, and I have to deal with the general derisiveness of the crowd here about mojo parts .....but I like them and it makes me play better.........

Well, I just ordered a lifetime's supply of Russian KY42 .015 PIO caps from my Ukrainian Ebay dude that I get my Ge transistors from.
Even with the shipping they came out less than Orange Drops. I don't like paying a premium from them, most of the ones I got were about the same price as Orange Drops. I do love me some Orange Drops too mind you....I'm just on a PIO kick right now...hahaha. The one Sprague Vitamin Q cap I have in my sunburst Strat I got on sale. And it's a .1uf as I recall so not a very popular value, but it works well with the EJ wiring and having the bridge on it's own tone pot. I won't pay the ridiculous prices for stuff like Emerson's PIO caps or Mojotone's.

I've seen a few guitars with a clear cavity controls and thought they looked pretty cool. Not sure I'd want to own one though. A bit like how race cars with their crazy paint schemes and wings/spoilers are cool, I want a go on one but wouldn't want it as a daily driver.

You have to buy a lot to make the shipping worthwhile, I suggest combining a few items, Ge Transistors, etc....He's pretty reasonable with the combined shipping costs because these are all small items. Then you're at the mercy of Russia Post....heh.

The shipping probably wouldn't be as bad for me in N Ireland as we're still techically part of the single market while the N Ireland protocol is in place.
I posted these in the "What's in the Mailbox" thread but my Wolfetone Legend PAF's arrived today.
I can't speak highly enough about working with Wolfe Macleod. Super nice guy and he works FAST.
I got my pickups within a couple of days of ordering them and he wound them to spec for me.
I wanted a slightly lower wind than his standard and he pretty much nailed it.
Holeeeeeeeecraaaap these pickups sound good in this guitar! I think I've become a convert to unpotted PAF's.
I know that's what @Big Monk recommended and I chatted with Wolfe about it a bit too. I told him that I wanted some "character" of the low wind pickups to shine through and he recommended going unpotted. Great call by both @Big Monk and Wolfe, these pickups have character in spades. These are my first set of unpotted hum buckers. There is a bit more handling noise and string noise but the trade off is definitely worth it.
Rich harmonics seem to just jump out of these pickups.
The lower wind makes them a tad brighter and a tad "honkier" which has really pushed this guitar over the top. Just playing it side by side with my Core 594 and it sounds richer and more clarity, note separation under gain.
Super happy with these pickups. I'll try to work up a demo at some point.
I started with swapping out the stock tuners for the PRS SE Locking tuners.
Somehow a PRS without locking tuners just doesn't seem quite right. These were a drop in replacement.
But I also decided to dress them up a bit with a set of Tone Ninja bone tuner knobs. I didn't quite care for the "full size" stock knobs and this gives the guitar a bit of that "DGT" look.
I asked for the Raw nickel covers with no "relic" so they pretty much look the same as the Porter Anthems I had in there.
This has turned from a great guitar into an AMAZING sounding and playing guitar for not a lot of money.
Oh, and while I was installing the pickups I reversed the control layout. I just could not get used the PRS layout where the neck pickup controls were forward and the bridge to the rear. I know it's logical but it's the opposite of all my other 4 knob controls.
So, with the slanted layout it feels a little cattywampus but at least I'm more naturally and instinctively reaching for the right control instead of having to think about it.
Still waiting on my PRS Lampshade knobs to compete the transformation of this project, but I'm loving this guitar!
