Hey folks,
I thought I would share a brief demo of my new Rivolta Mondata Baritone. This thing has a P90 in the neck and a humbucker in the bridge. There is split coil switch for the humbucker and a switch to put the two pickups out of phase. I am not gonna do the math, but it's a bunch of combinations that I tried to demo in the clip below. Don’t ask me which is which, I totally lost track. If I had more time I would record again with a script in mind and breaks so I can really label each section. Tonight I only had a few minutes.
In terms of playability, I need to lower the action a bit because it’s extremely high. Not unplayable but a bit tiring on the hand. I had to adjust the intonation on the low B which was so off that the little adjustment screw was touching the string when plucked, with an audible vibrating noise (actually kinda cool, don’t do it at home kids!). I also significantly lowered the humbucker in the bridge because I think it sounds nicer like that. I don’t play with a lot gain and I definitely don’t need a lot of output from the guitar so this works for me. I would like to lower the P90 as well but I am not sure it’s doable with the dog ear. Will take a closer look later.
