Now Playing... What are you Listening to Right Now?

RIP Meat Loaf. Shout out to the time my wife and I were in the car for what seemed like forever, calling Big D 103 trying to request paradise by the dashboard light so we could sing along and not be so bored

I used to work at a ticket office at a hockey arena with a good friend of mine in college. We spent an entire summer calling in to the local classic rock station begging them to play Godzilla by BOC. We called them every day we were in the office, to the point where the call screener recognized us.

They never once played it, the bastards.

I know it's a lot of music. But I like a little bit of everything.

This one kills me every time. Crazy song, great collection of early punk rock. The comp it is on is ridiculously excellent early punk stuff from the mid to late sixties.

People gonna think you are a Spazz!!!

Here is a link to the whole comp.

My friends from Minneapolis just released this gem on the Mighty HOZAC records. catchy psych pop....cant stop listening

Nuggets is basically the genesis of most of the music I love. I've been pretty entrenched in 2nd wave psych for the last 6 or 7 years, especially Paisley Underground in CA and Dunedin Sound in New Zealand. Here's an oddball comp that came out in 2020 of mostly midwestern stuff from the same era. It's so good. Full YT playlist here, a few choice cuts below.

Awesome, thank you! I'll check it out.

This lives rent free in my head, on an endless loop while I'm at work. It's the farthest thing from the truth here. We are like the avengers, if they went to work everyday to fight happiness...😭

Hang in there man. Shitty times for sure. Not gonna lie and tell you it will be better tomorrow, but it won't stay like this forever.

My advice, when you get off work listen to loud music in the car on the way home. When you get home hang with the family, when the kids go to be find a headphone amp or something and crank it up (to safe levels), close your eyes and pretend it is a Marshall and just rock out for a bit.

Nuggets and children of nuggets is adjacent to a lot of stuff I like, but I found that I liked the Wikipedia description of the paisley underground stuff more than the actual music for the most part with a couple notable exceptions. I'm gonna check this stuff out though

Yeah, not all the Paisley stuff was great, but Rain Parade (which beget Opal, which became Mazzy Star) and Dream Syndicate were phenomenal, Long Ryders and True West were really really good, and of course the Bangles whose early stuff was way more power pop tinged.

I spent a ton of time listening to Ladies and Gentlemen... The Bangles last year. I'm sure I posted in this thread about it. I think the only other band I followed through from children of nuggets was the Lyres.

I love finding new to me music and I love listening to other people's recommendations though. Looks like my week is booked at this point

My 8-year-old son has forced me to listen to Surface Pressure off the Encanto soundtrack pretty much everyday for school drop-off and pickup. Strangely enough, I can't say I'm sick of it just yet. Clever song really. Lin-Manuel Miranda's influence is all over it for sure.
