Old Chap, Touch stone, FF, and a buffer

Some recent and one not so recent builds. First is the LectricFx Old Chap flanger a clone of the EHX Deluxe Electric Mistress. Build wise, not a huge parts count, but does use 1/8w resistors. Price of admission was the $15 for the mn3007. Also has 5 trimpots for biasing and calibrating so count in some time for all that. Aside from switching the input/output wires, the build went without much fuss.
Sound wise, this is probably the best sounding flanger I have built/owned to date. It runs on 18v and has a very lush, warm sound. Not even a hint of metallic tones here like some flangers I have experienced. One draw back I have noticed and was verified by blackhatboojum was that this circuit is susceptible to picking up clock noise from pedals up chain from it resulting in a siren sound in the background. Built a simple Jfet buffer to place in front of it as instructed by Mr Black Hat, but unfortunately that did not stop the noise. But on to the pics:

Next is the Jfet buffer mentioned above. Nothing fancy, dead simple, but effective in its intended purpose. Used a j201 as called out in the build doc. Love the new pale green from Tayda.

Next is the give away board from MadBean, the “Business Card Fuzz”. This is my third fuzz face build and my least favorite tone wise. Used a 2n2222 hfe 211 for q1 and a 2n3904 hfe 280 for q2. With the squish knob full ccw it is a little more standard fuzz face, turn cw and things get extremely gated/velcro. With my tele it actually needed an Lpb-1 in front of it to get any real sustain out of it. Substituted a 3.3uf for the 2.2uf for c1 because it’s what I had.

Last up is the Madbean Touchstone chorus pedal, a clone of the ehx small clone. This board was bought to use up my last mn3007 and man was it worth it! Not sure what it is ab the mm3007 circuits, but they just sound so good. Build is easy. Calibration was a breeze. Only snafu was I put in D1 backwards so I wasn’t getting any chorus. Put R6 on a switch .as suggested on MBP forum, so that I can kill the dry signal and have both chorus and vibe tones. Killer pedal, a lot of bang for your buck. It does have some steep competition since I built a karaoke chorus not long ago. Pics:

Now if only I could find the time and motivation to slap some artwork on these….
