Last one today. First C2CE pedal. I gotta say, I liked the sound more than I imagined. I knew it would be good based on reputation, but man, this is a sweet sounding preamp. Cleans to a decent amount of dirt. Great docs, fun build.

That's interesting, I can't get any dirt on mine. My gain knob acts as a second volume knob. I always thought this was the way it was supposed to be and use it for pure Fender clean tones as a preamp. Now I'm wondering if I did something wrong on my build.....

Maybe I did something wrong on my build! I assumed the tube would glow a little, which it does not. Also, when bypassed, sweeping the gain knob causes what sounds like some self-oscillation style whining.

To be fair, I almost couldn’t get dirty tones on single coil neck. Definitely can on my bridge humbucker.

I realized I was giving it insufficient amperage. I gave it more, but now it does this thing where there’s a sudden drop in volume.

Mine's like yours, remains clean with dimed gain.

Mine sounds a little different with full gain vs full volume but neither would I really call dirty. I can get some breakup with both on full but that might just be because I am boosting the next stage.

It took me a bit to find a power supply that worked well for mine. I couldn’t run it off my brick supply that goes to everything else. I ended up using a 12v 1 amp and it seems to work well.

Hmmm, it would be cool to get a little grit on the PA, but it IS a wonderful pedal. So simple yet the sound is YUUUGE. This pedal is my "Blackface Fender" sound. I run it either into a 6L6 back end (fx loop return) or into a digital amp sim 6L6 back end.

Yeah, it sounds excellent! Much more tone sculpting range than my onboard pre. I’m going into an EL84 backend
