Peavey Millennium preamp (like the Cirrus + parametric mids) - verified

Last week I got a used indonesian Cirrus BXP (left) for 140 €.
1783365827116.png I did some basic maintenance and setup . Its preamp was noisy so I built a little something on vero. The millennium preamp with the parametric mids.

Schematic can be found here: https://www.diyaudio.com/community/attachments/millenium-preamp-pdf.1057602/

4/5 pots were correct values so fortunately it was a rather quick mod. I had to drill a new hole and carve out some wood for the Mid frequency pot.
It sounds thunderous now ! When it comes to the sound it's hard to tell it apart from my American Cirrus. I must admit that after the mod the BXP is more versatile, due to the parametric mids. The pups are supposed to be the same as in the American series, afterall.
The BXP has a tad chunkier neck. Nothing too extreme, one can get used to it after two days of playing. Happy modding !

Now I need to supress the thoughts that tell me to do the same mod in the American Cirrus and drill a hole on a collectible 1k€ bass. :ROFLMAO:

Aha, having the bass and treble control on a stacked pot instead of the mids and mid fq (what peavey did). No need to drill extra holes. I did not think of that. I should be able to source one of these from a European seller, too.
Thanks !

Hey, just found this. Very cool, thanks for the layout and especially the tips for noise reduction.
I just recently found a stash of TL062, thought I had only one, so may build this soonish as a stompbox.

I see the schematic has misspelled "Millennium, but the thread might come up on people's radar more easily if the "Millennium" in the thread title has both "n"s in it. There are quite a few bass players on the forum I think would be interested in this circuit.

Look forward to a build report on your other Cirrus and hopefully a demo, too.

Peavey CVLT🤘

Hello , thanks for your recommendation, just changed accordingly. English is not my mother tongue 😅
Please do revert when you build it.

I am wondering how this preamp would pair with a passive bass. Since the Bass and Treble controls are passive I am wondering if the volume would drop dramatically. But there's probably a makeup gain section later down the schematic to bring the signal up.
