Pedal boards and power supplies, how are you doing it?

So as my new found hobby has turned in to an obsessive addiction, my pedal collection is obviously growing, where I once was a minimalist( the shorter the signal chain the better)I’m am now a insatiable pedal glutton ( Oh look a new type of modulated pitch/filter gated dirt pedal PCB.....I NEEDS IT!). That being the case, organizing and powering This array of esoteric knobs, switches and LEDs becomes an issue... Let us get down to brass tax... being a community of DIYers did you build or buy your board and power supply?

Buy my boards and power supplies, usually only have 3-5 pedals on a board. This all changed this week with the recent tool upgrades to my work shop. The boards will all now be built by hand along with many ither things.

I bought a board from a custom builder on Etsy. It’s pretty simple but it was also relatively cheap. It’s large enough for up to maybe 16 pedals. I also have a small Pedaltrain.
I use a OneSpot CS6 for the small board, CS12 for the big one. I used a daisy chain for a short while but the noise level was unbearable.

Yeah I’m running into the daisy chain noise issue and it’s bugging me. I wonder why PPCB hasn’t come up with a power supply to build? I wonder if it just isn’t cost effective.

Maybe, easy to check the cost by looking at this project. It's definitely a bit more "dangerous" to build a power supply because you need to be careful working with high voltage circuits.

I've seen those shelves filled with pedals in the background of your photos. You must have had some pretty tough choices to make putting only 3-5 pedals on a board!

Yeah I could see the liability issue for a company... but what’s more fun that the possibility of shocking yourself?🤣.. but seriously one day I want to build a amp so I have to start somewhere but the voltage and amperage in a decent wattage tube amp from what I understand still makes me hesitant . The power supply might be a good place to start.

I never really used pedals when I played in bands. I made my own board for home and use a voodoo labs or truetone power supply

Pedaltain boards for me. I’ve made my own in the past, but pedaltrains are much lighter and they’re indestructible. I’m a fan of Cioks power supplies

Lol! Yeah it has gotten out of hand in the best way. I have a big loop switcher project in the works to make a mega board but it is usually guitar-fuzz-od-delay-looper-tuner-amp

Check out my videos on building an amp, if I can anybody can. There are so many good resources out there to get you started

I will have to check them out for sure,.... can you post a link? I want to Get building pedals down first I still don’t understand some of what I’m doing... I’m just starting to figure out how to sub components like ICs and transistors
