Cataclysm Delay/clone of the EQD Disaster Transport Jr.

This pedal went together very quickly and worked straight away on the PedalPCB auditorium platform. This is my kind of delay… very warm and unlike the magnetron that I built, this pedal does not add gain or change my tone. It has wonderful slap and long delay. It is a very traditional sound... like an analog delay and without any tricks or frills. This is only my 31st build and I learn by doing and by making mistakes. If you see anything that can help me grow please let me know. I have processed a few great lessons from mistakes I have made and, I am studying the methods and engineering of your builds. It is a hobby and I appreciate anyone who can help me grow in this hobby. I have a breadboard and next I need to learn to read the schematics.

For this build I considered that a cataclysm is a large-scale violent event so I went with a tornado on the pedal top. I used a pink (more like Pepto-Bismol colored) enclosure with a thermal ink label. I also employed the PedalPCB top jack plate and also for aesthetics, I went with a green 5mm LED and 15mm green knobs. I really like these little bezels that Stompbox sells; they are low profile inside the enclosure and outside. On this PedalPCB board, I like the symmetry of the layout/components: it is a cramped area when you solder the two lower potentiometers and try not to burn the film caps! Getting the flux out of that area is also delicate process. Remember the old board game called “Operation”? Like that.

This is a great sounding delay and you probably already have the components in your workshops so consider getting a PCB board and build one. Now I am going to strum my guitar and enjoy the sweet sounds of the cataclysm delay. IMG_9851.jpeg IMG_9846.jpeg
