Start to finish this project was less than three hours. I had a previously drilled case and the graphics were repurposed from a Stewmac kit.
About difficulty: I think a great first build for anyone new in this hobby would be a booster or a fuzz. A tube screamer is another entry level project in my opinion. The 4558 makes it a little more than beginner.. and the caps. So I have probably build too many pedals based on this circuit... but I sure do love them.
I had a mis-drilled enclosure that was perfect for a little clipping light. I used a 5mm bezel from Tayda for the clipping red LED. Online people stated that the clear red LEDs work better than diffused red LED. Not sure how but I went with the clear red. The light works very well and I love it. Another LED is clipping inside the case. For the graphics I trimmed a StewMac decal set and made it work here. I also use the PedalPCB top jack plate. I used these chrome MXR style knobs. The enclosure is a powder coated gloss white. The LED for the pedal is a 5mm green diffused. Inside I used Switchcraft jacks and 1/4w resistors.
I did not modify the build for this one, so it has that glorious TS808 symphony pouring out.
