Many people love this circuit and I guess I sort of do also– PPCB site reviews. The Mach 1 is a decent overdrive pedal that is not overpowered but has headroom. I can get it to sound like crunchy overdrive and I can get transparency – If I crank the drive it becomes a compressed distortion pedal. To my ears it is creamy like the PPCB Tower. If I zero out the Drive control the circuit loses most of its power and I have to turn Loudness to near full. The Frequency control is just a tone knob IMO. I would still say this is a great three knob overdrive. I am not sure it could replace my Timmy, my OCD or my Wampler Belle but I can mess with it to get tone that I enjoy so I am saying it is a great circuit. It is not as good at transparent OD the way an OCD is, but it can come close.

I put this in a matte orange 1590b with a traditional waterslide label and clear coat. I used Lumberg D.C. and input/output jacks. There is a low profile footswitch and I skipped the washer. Aluminum matte silver knobs to match the aesthetic. Everything fits in the 1590b without any massaging but I still filed some material off the thick plastic on my Lumberg Jacks to be sure. It is maybe one of the easier PPCB boards to get in a 1590b. I like to build my 1590b pedals like MXR pedals, so the jacks are on the sides.

If you are into OD like I am and you are thinking of building one, do it. It is a very nice overdrive circuit and it can be completed quickly. Pedal #95. The butterfly is for my mom.
