Haven't seen this one being talked about in a while but a year or two ago this was the shit. It's one of the pedals I built last year that I never did a build report on. But I just realized that the font I used on my Boss DM-3 clone that I posted yesterday uses the same font as this one so why not also post this now?
For some reason I never cared about the Bearfoot FX / BJFE pedals. But I am glad I built this one because it's one of my favourite drive pedals for sale here.
The build uses some "funky" parts that I did not have on hand like two MPF4393 transistors, a CA3130EZ op-amp and & two BA482 diodes. Took a while to gather all of them.
Like I said it sounds really good. It's hard to describe drive pedals without using buzzwords. It's a good mid gain overdrive that has quite the range of different sounds depending on where you set the gain and boost knob.
But the one thing I really love about this pedal is the tone controls. Proably the most useful tone controls I ever had on a drive pedal. On a lot of drive pedals I usually set and forget the tone knob because most of them only have a very narrow range where they sound good to me. But on this pdal they have a really, really nice and usable range. You can set them to either end of the tone controls without them sounding bad or shrill.
With a name like that it led itself to doing something cocktail themed. I looked around for some mojito vectors and found these two graphics that I liked and modified in Adobe Illustrator. You can't really see the cocktail glass at the top because I forgot to add a white layer underneath it. Whoops.
(Looking back at this build a year later I would probably redo that main bypass footswitch wiring to make it look cleaner and I also just now realized that I apparently hit that 33nf over the C10k pot with my soldering iron.
