Why would you sell a product (Blues Lawyer Overdrive) that uses an impossible to get D taper pot?

I get what you are saying but why not just list the substitution in the bom. It would save the customer time so they are not searching for the wrong part.

Because then another member would be here asking why the incorrect part was listed in the BOM.

Almost every part in the circuit could be substituted, the BOM provides a baseline.
