Finished this one up tonight. Pretty straight forward build and good sounding od. Very creamy with gobs of sustain. I figured it may have more gain though. I used the highest hfe (100) NPN Germanium I had which was an ASY29. Also has low leakage. For diodes just some old 1N34A the build report called for. I don’t have any fancy diodes. I’ve only tried one Jfet in it and may play around with some more.
I have one more populated board, Quicklime Girl, to finish up that i did while I was waiting on parts. I would recommend this if your looking for a creamy germanium drive that can do some brown face style sounds but not too high of gain. As always Robert’s layout made it a breeze! I think I’m sticking with the one enclosed jack on the input atleast until I exhaust my open frame jacks as they’re so much less stress pulling the jack out. Doesn’t bother me that theyre mismatched. I had my doubt About this one firing up first time…I think it’s time to get a new iron tip as soldering wasn’t flowing as good as usual.

Fun build. Recommended! May as well stick with the all black theme. One of these days I’ll find a pedal that goes well with my red Strat or bourbon burst lp.
