4th build (5th if you count my Notaklon), and first that wasn't from a kit. Definitely a higher degree of difficulty when you have to source your own parts and strip / cut the individual stranded wires. The build sequence was also a whole lot of trial and error, and I think I had to take the jacks out 3x to correct for that.

Next build will use solid wire I think.

Bonus: It sounds just as horrible as I expected it to! I've never owned an HM-2 but the noise floor was much lower than I expected it to be.

Now I just need to find a thrash player in my neighborhood to give it to (I am not a metal guy and picked this pcb because it looked pretty easy to build)!

Nice build, especially for your 4th/5th one. Of course there’s the classic “chainsaw” sound. But I think a more interesting setting is turn the gain all the way down and dime everything else, for a sort of dirty boost.

I'll give that a go! I also found that backing down on the volume plays nicer with my amp and is much less fuzzy.

One weird thing I found was that there's a "step" in the treble pot where the tone changes dramatically. I've not seen that before.
