Queen Brian May Fans - Deacy Pedal Project

Degenerate I may be (Excuse the pun) but I like my wires to line up! I like BM's playing well enough, and I quite the sound. It's just in a different realm from what I usually like, and what I usually like can be quite degenerate.

Wires and components not lining up in DIYLC is deeply vexatious.

If I'm getting to the heart of the other matter, I'm more of a Brian May fan than a Queen fan. Without him, they'd just be a band that didn't make me sigh and change the station when they came on the radio.
 
Ever since I found the "Snap to..." thing DIYLC has been a lot more fun to use.

What I like about Brian May: He has totally developed his own instantly recognisable sound in more ways than one. I admire that more than I admire Queen. I admire players who work on there sound, note choice, etc. Actually I don't really dislike Brian May at all except that Queen is not the sort of music I would choose to listen to. Doesn't make them bad or wrong; I just have stuff I like to listen to more.

I can't remember where I found this circuit - maybe Tagboard Layouts? I really like this one but hardly ever use it. It does seem to get that BM sound though. I just wish it wasn't quite so noisy.

The Bohemia is really good. It's a BJT treble boost into two JFET mu-amp stages. I think tacking on a one-knob cab sim on the output to dial in the tiny speaker/tiny box sound could be a viable shortcut.
 
That's a very tidy layout. I think I might have built the TagboardEffects version at some point but can't recall for certain. I got on a vero-boost tear a while back and did several of them. I do remember that my favorite of them was the Naga Viper, which definitely gets in that Brian May ballpark.

I couldn't say it any better myself.

Most of the Queen that I hear pops up on FM radio. (Yes, I'm old-school. The world is moving on without me, and I've made my peace with that.)

If you don't know "'39", give it a listen some time. May wrote it (utilizing his astro-physics knowledge) and sang lead. It's the only Queen song I ever intentionally seek out.

 
Oh I know "'39". My bro was a big fan A Day At The Races and A Night At The Opera.

It's funny - I do love treble booster sounds but when BM layers all the harmonies it often reminds me of that pedal steel slide sound at the beginning of the Loony Tunes fanfare!
