Recently went through old breadboard experiments and discovered this gem. As per the title, it's Runoffgroove's version of the old Supro (rumoured to have been Page's amp of choice for the first Led Zep album). Uses 18V, so the breadboard version uses the simple 2 x 9V battery clips in series workaround.
I wanted something a bit more permanent and rugged, so veroboard to the rescue.
ROG even provided a convenient vero wiring guide, showing where to link and cut, but it took me three attempts to get this right as pictured. I clearly have some challenges translating such diagrams into working prototypes ('nuff said) but it's rewarding when it fires up correctly as always. Sound-wise, ROG claims that it's different from the usual suspects (the big two) because it does not use negative feedback to tame the gain stages. I have no reason (nor the in-depth knowledge) to doubt this claim.
There's an option to switch in a 'fat' cap to restore a bit of bass to the overall toan (stock version sounds quite thin to my ears, like a cheap under-powered amp which is exactly what it was) and the working version runs off one of MBP's Road Rage boards, a bit less hack than the 18V battery kludge of the breadboard version. Quite unusual and fun circuit, just the ticket while waiting for my latest PPCB order to reach here.
Have a good weekend, thanks for looking, and trust that our good friend @fig will shortly reappear to say: 'Now go build something (else).'
