Schematic symbols

Apologies if this is a dumb question but I am trying to figure out what the numbers mean on this schematic.
Each line has a 1 or a 2 separated by some element, ie. a resistor or cap. Somewhere I read that this might represent the same signal path but that doesn't seem to make sense here.

The Schematic shows 1- R1-2, then 2-R2-1, then 1-C1-2, then 1-R4-2. So I could see them being the same signal path up until the junction by R4. So I am confused as to what these 1 and 2 mean and can't seem to find a straight answer.
Hoping someone can help me out. Thank you
 
Component pins. Not really significant outside of CAD software.

I should note that there is significance on particular components, like transistors and pots, but as far as resistors and caps, no real significance.
 
Those are just the PIN numbers of the component. No need to pay them any attention except for the pots and transistors really.
