Sean Lock - sad and funny

A lot of you folks Stateside might not have heard of UK comedian Sean Lock. I only became aware of him from tv shows like Eight Out of Ten Cats Does Countdown, which is a bizarre comedy series where a bunch of comedians do a boring gameshow popular with the elderly. Sean was a regular on that show and just incredibly witty. He had the most unexpected take on pretty much everything and came across as a helluva nice bloke too. Well I was saddened yesterday to learn that he had succumbed to lung cancer - he was only a year older than me. It's so sad.

Sean Lock was one of the funniest since people like Spike Milligan and Peter Cook. If you haven't heard of him check out Cats Does Countdown - it's nuts. Lots of it is available on Youtube, which is where I first stumbled across it. Jimmy Carr is the host. But it won't be the same without Sean.

I saw him live at the edinburgh comedy festival about 10 years ago and it was one of the funniest gigs I've ever seen. I was shocked to see this in the news yesterday.

So sad to hear. I was gutted when I hear yesterday. He had an abstract and completely individual type of comedy. Some of the 8 out of 10 cats does countdown is hilarious!
