after building the pro-10 (protein) earlier today, I finally started on my collection of cornish stuff. i prepped enclosures with the film free toner transfers and started with the Nugget (NG-2). the description i read was that it was the sound of a Muff into a Tone Bender which are pretty much my favorite guitar sounds.

building is pretty basic. having read some reviews of the build on here, i agree that the bias pot would be best as an external knob as it's quite useable throughout a great portion of its range. i can't remember who suggested it when i posted one of my firt builds on here, but someone recommended soldering the bottom row of pots from the underside of the board. this has been one of the best bits of advice i have gotten on these forums and would recommend it to other new builders to prevent marring of your other components when soldering in your pots.

as it is, this is is pretty close to my favorite fuzz right now. i will spend more time with it this week, but the descrption of a muff into a tone bender is pretty accurate.

i look forward to the building of the other cornish pedals. having built the ng-2 and the p-2 so far, they really sound great. i have the ss-3 built on the bench now with the exception of some pots. i do wish there weren't so many random component values.

cheers.
John
