Should the Uberfuzz have a pulldown resistor?

I'm looking at the Uberfuzz schematic, and I noticed, unlike many other designs, this one doesn't seem to have a significant pulldown resistor at the beginning of the signal path.

Why do some circuits have these, and others, like this one, do not?

If you ground the input in bypass, you don’t need a pulldown resistor.
