Silica Fuzz properly trimming

I just turned the trim pots until it sounded good. It seems to sound better with single coils. I was wondering what is the proper way to trim it?

Also I noticed some white noise if I hold the kill switch button on my guitar only happens with this pedal. Maybe because its not trimmed right? The kill switch connects the ground and output in the guitar to"kill" and mute the output. there is no white noise with the volume down just when the kill button is pushed

Adjust Bias for around 4.5VDC on the collector of Q4 (transistor on the far right).

There is no "right" answer for the gain controls, although it's common for Q1 (HFE1) to be lower gain than Q2 (HFE2) in a Fuzz Face.

You might need to readjust the bias after adjusting the gain trim pots.


The white noise could be an impedance issue. Have you used your kill switch with an unbuffered Fuzz Face style circuit before?

I don't think so, Is the Ungula unbuffered FF style?
