Silicone Topcoat Wire - Exists?

Is the topcoat you’re talking about the same as “pre-bond”?
Technically, but I’ve gotten “pre-bond” that was tinned but not joined together (looking at you, Small Bear). Unless I see “topcoat” I won’t believe it till I see it!

Is this what you are looking for?
Doesn’t say it’s silicone, unless I’m missing it…

Any particular reason not to use single strand/solid core, @jwin615 already mentioned some.
I’ve had solid break on me, but I’m sure it was my own endless futzing. If it’s all I had I’d use it and be happy. It’s just maybe a little TOO stiff- topcoat stranded is a nice in-between.

Teflon/PTFE coated Mil-spec single core silver plated copper baby. M16878/4 type E(UL1213)or type EE(UL1170); avoid type ET as it's super thin wall insulation can be tedious to strip without getting into the wire, at least IMO. It's also so thin, it's easily nicked. I would only use ET for bodge wire. There's a little learning curve in stripping it but once you master that, it's so nice to work with. If I knew you were in the market, I would've sent you a sample. Teflon is nearly as heat resistant as silicon(200+C with SPC) but way tougher, hence the little bit of learning curve in stripping. There's also a spec of ptfe wire that is 7 strand SPC conductor, so it's a little more flexible and crushable but stray strands aren't really an issue.
Theres a few sellers on eBay but I usually go through Apexjr com
Right on the money! Im a diesel technician, worked for peirce fire for a couple years, and everything was tefzel(ETFE) , ptfe wrap, Deutsch connectors. Looks and performs so good! best part is how thin the insulation is! I could go on and on. FEP. TFE, PFA. it all just depends on the application. teflon is the shit!

What kind of wire strippers did/do you use?

Has anyone tried hitting tinned silicone wire with a hot air soldering station like unstripped? I’m curious if that’s enough for it to behave like prebond or if does absolutely need more solder than what’s tinned to stiffen up. Might try this with some scraps.
