Size graphic for Hammond 1550 boxes

A few years ago I came across these very handy graphics for the 1590 series boxes:

There are a some boxes in the 1550 series (I think the main difference to the 1590 series is a slight difference in wall thickness?) that also seem potentially useful for pedal building.
I couldn’t find a comparable graphic for the 1550s, so I made my own:

For the “Height” view I didn’t think it was as useful to stack everything, so I broke them out a bit.

Hope some folks find this useful :)
And let me know if you spot any errors 👍

To me, the E, G, and J look like the most useful (for large and multi-fx projects). In that they’re the most different from the 1590 sizes without being way too tall for normal pedal use.

Funtastique!

For me, the two main 1550s are the M and the E.
The M is like a slightly wider 1590BB in portrait mode.

The E is more akin to a 1590XX or 1590X (the E's height being somewhere between the X and XX);
in landscape mode, the E is about 26mm wider than the X/XX.

For both the M and the E, they let you squeeze in an extra mod control or two in what might be too crowded for the BB or XX/X.

I recently read somewhere (can't find it again) that the 1550s' walls are about half the thickness of their 1590 counterparts.

Looks like wall thickness for 1590 runs from: 1.6 - 2.5 mm (somewhat corresponding to the overall size, i.e. bigger enclosure = slightly thicker walls)

1550 is pretty similar at: 1.8 1.5 - 2.5 mm

So I guess that myth is busted! ;)

The only actual difference I can find from a casual perusal of the other specs is that the 1590s have 6-32 screws, and 1550s have M3 screws. 🤷‍♀️

I forgot to mention the 1550B.
It's another one that's a good pedal size, similar to the 1590 series B, but again a little wider.
NOTA BENE the 1550B is 1mm shallower at 26mm vs the 1590B's 27mm.

This MBP thread may be of interest:

And I found again that thread I'd read regarding wall thickness:

The 1550Z series has ultra-thick walls.

And I found again that thread I'd read regarding wall thickness:
Oh yeah, I think that’s the same thread I read a while back that gave me the vague memory of thinner walls.

The 1550 wall thicknesses are…
Q: 1.8 mm
P: 1.5 mm
A: 1.5 mm
B/D: 1.5 mm
C: 1.8 mm
M: 1.8 mm
K: 1.8 mm
L: 2.0 mm
E/F: 2.0 mm
G/H: 2.0 mm
N: 2.5 mm
J: 2.5 mm

* I mistakenly assumed the Q would be the thinnest, since it’s the smallest. But there are some 1.5’s in there.

In that thread he’s specifically comparing 1550B (1.5 mm) to 1590B (2.0 mm) which might lead you to believe 1550’s are thinner in general.
But really it just depends which specific one(s) you’re looking at 🤷‍♀️

** and who even knows where the non-genuine-Hammond brand ones factor in…
