Slide Pot mounting tabs

I’m laying out a board that uses sliders. The schematic symbol has pins for the mounting tabs (in addition to CW, CCW, & Wiper). Do those need to be grounded? The data sheet doesn’t say anything about it.
I’ve attached a couple photos. The slide symbol is the huge rectangle on the left.

It's not a bad idea for shielding but it's not required.

I feel like connecting to a ground pour (versus four small isolated pads) gives a more substantial physical connection, but I don't always do it. (same with 9mm pots)
