Soul Vendor controls

Just finished up a Soul Vendor. It sounds great, but the controls are throwing me off a bit.

The Dirt pot changes very little throughout its sweep, and the Tone pot goes from flat to unusably bright in just a quarter of a turn.

Is this normal? I can't really tell from demos of the real Soul Bender.

I used three B100Ks as the docs called for. Also experimented with a few different values with no improvement.

They are the same Tone and Dirt pot values used in the Madbean PastyFace (their version of the Soul Bender, but somewhat different), and if I recall correctly, the controls on that one responded more as I would expect.

Update: I was using a 1N34A substitute for the 1N270. Switching to a 1N5817 improved the Dirt control a decent amount. A D9B made the Tone much worse, as did the few odd silicons I tried.

Still experimenting, but I'm curious if it makes sense that the diode used here would alter the response of these controls to a significant degree, and if it works better with an actual 1N270.

I meant taper. Try a A100k or a C100k
