This will be my 2nd pedal build and I am already off the deep end. Since the sandspur wasn't in, I decided to try a sunflower.
I purchased 4 2N404 from smallbear.
When I measure gain, I am getting : 212, 247, 217, 224. I am not certain I am testing correctly.
When testing gain, I do see it rapidly adjust when I hold my finger on the top. It makes me think I am doing it correctly, assuming my math is correct.
I am planning to socket the transistors so I can swap them out. Will these work? What I have read said to look for a gain of 70 and 100 in a set. I know the sunflower has the trim pot, but will that make up enough difference for the high gain on these?
