I think this will do for now! I don't want to bore you... I was surprised when I built a Vemuram Karen - The Kadundra here - at how much I liked it. It's a really good aggressive, vaguely Marshall sounding OD. And again I felt that perhaps it had too much low en oomph with no way to control it. It works equally well with HBs or single coils and just has a well balanced, meaty tone which sounds just as good at low gain as it does cranked. In fact I had forgotten how much I liked it. I've been getting so much into the JFET stuff that I had forgotten just how good the Karen is. It LOVES the P90s in my Gibson 330. It sounds full and rockin' with my Strat.
So of course I added a bass control. At first I put the bass control at the front end of the circuit but it seemed to strip away the fun and the midrange - tried various things but in the end put it on the second stage because that's where the big bottom end was being created. And while it may not have the range of a bass control on the first stage it does enough and keeps the sound I liked in the circuit in the first place. For me this definitely competes with the JFET pedals.
