The Hit Me mystery PIF thread

Honesty on my part, the box is sitting ready to ship but the holidays and layoffs at work have been on my mind and I haven't got to the post office. So yes a stall here too. For sure plan to get it moved this week.

No worries GizzWizz. Busy time of year for everyone. Wasn't sure where we were in the list so went ahead and PMed my addy to Gordo.

On another note, you guys are being too generous 🤣
I'm gonna have to scounge up some more goodies by the looks of it

Actually with me being out of town the timing works out pretty well for receiving mine

Gotta admit though this has been a nutty time of year. Craziness at work and real life seem to be biting into my build time...

Santa was early this year. GizzWizzKing dropped a load off here that kills. Honestly dude, you're too kind. My fave part is likely what you'd least expect. Boards are:
XS Drive - I love Xotic stuff and this one never got done. I think I did their comp.
Pro-10 Green OD - not familiar and looking forward to it.
Order switch for 3pdt - says it all.
Muffin Crumb - Geez I have to decide what I want to build???
MBP Pepperspray - I built this already and it evaporated when a bass player buddy tried it...I don't think the paint was even dry. Will be nice to have it back. He even included the friggin 9mm pots!
MBP Donut. When I rebuilt my Lado guitar I couldn't find a boost to replace the original till this came along. Missed having it on my other guitars though...
Obtuse Boost - zero knowledge of this one so will be fun.
D18 diodes - motherf*cker these look cool. I gotta figure out what to use them in just because.
D9K diodes - I love these.
And the piece de resistance: a slab of Tayda veroboard. I downloaded the layout for the Peacock Fuzz the other night and printed it because I've never done a legit vero build. I was going to toss it thinking "who am I kidding...I'll never get a piece of vero and actually build it". Well apparently I've run out of excuses because the print out is still on my desk and I have vero.

Again GWK I really can't thank you enough!!!

Received a very well assembled and very cool PIF from @Gordo yesterday. After a couple of nights of deliberation, for reasons I'll discuss after it is revealed here(per the rules below), I'm going to pass it on adding to it my originally planned pif as they are very different use cases. So @mckillacuddy , you have a double pif coming your way. I guess if one or the other doesn't jive, you can do the same? I'll try and get it out today(if not-monday) so maybe this thing is wrapped before the end of the year and everyone can play with their new pifs some while off for the holidays.
Thanks Gordo! Beautiful execution. Without saying too much, the best I can say now is, I have 3 hammers at home already, so if I brought another onehome, it probably wouldn't be used much. Better it go to someone who will swing it.
Idea:
I offer a mystery package of DIY goodness. When the next player gets the package, they can
1) Keep it and send their own package (of similar value) to the next player, or
2) PIF it to the next player
3) You must reveal the package contents if you choose to keep it. You cannot reveal the contents of a package you send. Hence, the mystery PIF part.
P.s. @mckillacuddy , if you have any questions about the use of my pif, PM me and I'll help you out as it may not be all that obvious at first glance.

Woke up this morning to my heat out
Control board is shot. Gonna try to get this out Monday. Was supposed to leave on a 4 day tour across KY for work. Not sure how I'm going to manage that now...

... I downloaded the layout for the Peacock Fuzz the other night ...

Whasnawt awares of this Peacock Fuzzer you spake of... Nothing at tagboard, dirboxlayouts, Sabrotone, this forum, ahh maybe ...

Yes, indeedo, Gordo, gonna have to vero that!

Jwin615 — can relate. Did the heat out in Dec thang just after moving back to the GWN a couple years ago, while we were waiting for the lawyers to close on our house-purchase, staying at Mom's, so her furnace.
Then a few HVAC hiccups this Dec in our house — all sorted. Hope you get yours sorted okay.

Recap it!!

It's one of those damn all in one intelligent boards that addresses thermostats and uses rj45 and proprietary software to program, at least what I've gathered. So even getting another one off eBay isnt really in the cards. Hopefully warranty covers it. We'll see.
It's so smart, it won't let you run emergency heat when it blows up. Space heaters are out and wood stove is cranking.

Dang dude sorry :( We are in need of replacing ours as well. There are a couple pin-holes in the heat exchanger so it's like $3k to replace that or $8k to replace the entire unit (it's about 13 y.o.)

2k of that either way is probably refrigerant.
If you want a second opinion, give Sam a shout at Home Rescue Heating and Air there in Hville.
I used him for years. He's semiretired now but does good work, honest and won't gouge you. He might be able to capture some of your existing stuff and get it to limp a few more years.
Or at least maybe give you a better price on a whole unit.
He put my unit in for 30% less than Hiller quoted. Same system.
Nothing seems built to last past 10 years anymore though
My last compressor in this unit lasted 8 months.

Dang, thanks for the recommend. I will definitely do that. We've used Covenant for a long time but they are pricey.
