The Nutty Box

I wasn't sure whether to post this in the project development thread or here, so I chose here. This is a Mammoth Electronics Deviator fuzz (a MXR Blue Box derivative) and got it at stomp box parts for FREE. Free if you spent $10 on other crap there. I had most if not all the pcb components stockpiled already (thanks Tayda), so I pulled the trigger on it plus an enclosure, pots, and 3pdt switch. I have finished the PCB and drilling out the enclosure. Offboard wiring is next.

A few things I should mention: this board has a ribbon cable slot for their 3pdt board, but I nixed that and wanted to do this the old fashioned way. Soldering is more fun when you're putting a wire puzzle together:)

This board was actually part of a kit and originally came with a pre-drilled enclosure. Since I only had the board and a bare enclosure I had to figure that part out. My method was to put some acryllic paint on the end of the pots/switches and fit the board on the underside of the enclosure to determine where to drill. While this was a challenging/fun experience I am super GREATFUL for drill templates from this site and elsewhere. I enjoy using power tools, but when a mm or two can turn your hard work into crap I am glad templates make it easier.

Still not quite sure about the artwork or LED color. I have to run a wire from the board to the bezel. I normally get the el cheapos from Tayda, but for a few extra pennies it looks nicer.

My only complaint (well, two complaints actually) is that the effect is pretty quiet compared to the rest of my pedal board and may need to make an LPB1 in a small enclosure or stripboard one and stuff it inside. The other "complaint" is that it's not really useable in a band setting since it doesn't track well (similar to the blue box), but it is really fun to mess around with.
