Hi, I'm having unreasonable hiss and squealing from this circuit at higher settings, mostly pedal gain and guitar volume.
It's beyond the normal background hiss that comes with some fuzz pedals, it's incredibly pronounced and drowns out the fuzz effect, like the loud hiss of a radiator with added ring mod and bit reducer squealing. Rolling off the guitar volume eliminates it, but then I lose a lot of the fuzz too.
I've read that some Fuzz Face circuits are prone to this, and people describe putting a low value cap across the base and emitter of one of the transistors. Think that would do the trick here, or is it more likely just shoddy workmanship on my part? Bad transistor maybe? I checked all the joints and they look fine. Quality parts from Tayda. Used 2N222a transistors, btw, maybe the leakage is too high? Any advice is appreciated. Thanks!
