Updating build thread (mostly vero/p2p)

Guess it’s time to start a build thread I’ll be updating with new builds worth mentioning. So let’s get it on.

GCI Brutalist Jr

I had a need for a distortion and Brutalist was suggested for me. I don’t like waiting and paying postage for a PCB or two so stripboard was a natural choice even though it doesn’t look as tidy as PCB can be.

Lately I’ve been doing these bare wire builds, isolating jacks, thinking about lead dressing and star grounding whole build. It has treated my builds good as nowadays I don’t have oscillation or other noise problems so often.

Changing IC1 from TL072 to LM358 brought noise down, but tamed distortion bit too much. Maybe I should try LM358 as IC2?

IC2 functions as buffer, the distortion is build around IC1. The LM358 has a much slower slew rate than the TL072, which basically cuts off all high frequencies. Try a TL052, NE5532 or JRC4558 instead.

I was suspecting IC1/2 function correctly, but thanks for validating it!

Too bad I mostly have variety in single OPAs, but lack on duals. I just changed IC1 back to TL072 before todays rehearsal as I need those high freqs to achieve some real diversity on my pedal board.

Old content, but better to gather this one here too before parting ways with it. Too bad I didn’t drill led holes big enough to fit those leds in first place.

Fuzz’n’Burn p2p
Isolated jacks, bus star grounding, trims for transistor bias on electra and meathead sides and enclosure shielding comes from only from one gnd ref point.
