Valhalla build. 7812/78L12

I do not currently possess a 78L12 voltage regulator for my valhalla build however my understanding is that the 7812, which i have, will also provide 12V. Aside from the physical size difference and ability to handle higher current, is there any reason i couldn't still utilize it?

Without checking, they might have different pinouts. Should work just fine.

As BtR said check pinout, and then the "physically-larger" thing means making sure you don't short out something during the build or stuffing it in the enclosure.

You can actually use a 7812 instead of a 78L12 if you don't have heat dissipation issues and your Valhalla's load requires more than 100 mA. Make sure the power supply is stable enough to support the required input voltage, and consider heat management if you use a 7812.
