Warning Equilux Build, don’t be me…

Had the enclosure drilled perfectly, all the components installed clean and nice and then this… So in my excitement to play this thing I ended up installing the rotary pots on the wrong side. Never ever have done that before. But I saw the little notch on the screen print and thought oh it goes here. Long story short next day ordered an engineer desoldering pump, by the way these are really nice my first pump. After pumping and wicking and pulling and over heating ended up ripping up several traces. So I rage ordered a new board last night even though I know a Black Friday deal is coming soon. I really have to get my impatience under control. Lol.
Anyway make sure you put the pots on the back of the board, don’t be like Dan.

No photos, already shamed enough.

I think we’ve all had this issue where we have had a load of builds go well with no troubleshooting issues and we get complacent and rush and make a silly error that wreck the whole board. I’m looking forward to seeing the build report for this one so I’m glad you haven’t fixed your impatience! 🤣

I have never done anything like this several times and especially not recently with a 3pdt board again.

It's even more fun when you did the board layout yourself and it's wrong in some non-recoverable way, and you ordered twenty boards from JLCPCB because the cost is so close to what it costs for five!;)

This stings just a little bit more when you also have the boards populated by them, at least that’s what this guy I know said, I wouldn’t know personally or anything.

I've dodged that bullet, but just narrowly. Still have lots of purchased SMT components over there waiting for me to use them. My long history of coasters at OSHpark would look a lot worse if they offered assembly too.

I love this thread so much -- done that with my last potentiometer of the right value, switches, LEDs. All for the same excitable reason!
