What stomp switches do you use? Should I start using the Intelligent Relay Bypass?

I've hit a crossroads with these Tayda 3PDT stomp switches (over 10% failure rate) so I'm exploring two other options.

Can anyone give me advice about which one you prefer and why? Or if there's a 3rd option I'm overlooking.

1) Start using much more expensive switches. It seems like the best one is the Fulltone 3PDT which is made from bakelite and metal. These are about $16 each. I can't find any other one with similar specs (non-plastic) for a lower price. I don't see any reason to pay for any of the other "high quality" $8 stomps that are made from plastic. It seems destined to fail given the way that 3PDT stomps are constructed.

2) Start using the Intelligent Relay Bypass switchboards sold by PedalPCB. These obviously require more components but other than the extra time to put it together, it seems like the cost would be around the same $16 as option #1. But I'd also get truly silent switching and some other fun options for intermittent activation.

I'm inclined to go with #2. Are there any downsides? Will this board fit into all PedalPCB designs? Any reason to go with #1 instead?

I want to try 555 based bypass. Uses the regular soft touch spst switches which have a pretty long mechanical life.
