Wire selection, shielding? does it matter?

Ok guys here is an interesting question. So I get using the appropriate gauge, but how about type? I have been using A box of ETFE TefZel scraps And in there is some shielded wire. Would shielding the wires in high gain pedals (or any pedal for that matter) be beneficial or is that overkill?

I've not used shielded wires since my first few builds and never had to since

Proper routing as @thewintersoldier
said is all I do I never run power and audio wires paralell or too close to each other and if they have to cross them I do it like this +

If you've got it use it is what I say I've even used snipped guitar strings for grounding

I know! I'm a sad man but I just can't throw anything away since I've got into this here hobby

I usually approach random people saying things like

"Is that a plastic straw you're throwing away? I'll take it, I might be able to use that"
