SOLVED Wondering about 100K trimpots

I am wondering why the PCB has five holes for the trimpots, but the actual trimpots only have three legs (the ones dotted with red in the picture). I was told that these trimpots are the right ones, but I am still wondering why exactly is this so? Looking at the PCB there are traces going to those empty 4th and 5th holes as well?

But is it ok to just solder into those red dotted holes?

Depends on the one you got.

The one on the top right here is for those red dotted ones. The one on the bottom left takes the upper red dot and the bottom two blancs.

It's literally just to accommodate different physical size trimpots. The extra pads are connected
