So, this is the ElectroVibe preamp feeding @Robert's EQ, Anyone? (based on Nathan East's Yamaha NE-1 pedal).

I've tried the Anyone as a standalone before, but it doesn't provide quite enough gain for my Jazz Bass with DiMarzio pickups. The ElectroVibe in front fixes this problem and adds a nice colour which can then be finely tweaked through the NE-1's graphic EQ capabilities. Provides a wide range of useful toans accordingly.

This is my second combo build (hence the abbreviated Yet Another Combo Build in the title). Thanks for reading as always.

After some brief research into the EV, it turns out that it’s more about tone than a straightforward volume boost. Coinciding with the arrival of the Transcendent boost this side, I replaced the original EV front end with one making much more gain available. In turn, this replacement seems to bring the Anyone to life, most likely because it has more signal level to work with (surmising here). In any case, this specific combination works better for my needs (boosting and EQ’ing passive bass instruments) and I’m keen to try it out on upright at tomorrow’s impending gig. Will report back in due course.

No gutshot this time. Lots of splices, and quite tricky to finesse the new board and LED into the space drilled for the EV’s longer dimensions, but all’s well in the long run. Thanks for reading this update and best wishes to all.

Thanks for the update, very much looking forward to your DB-report!
Thanks for your interest. Verdict: very good result, basically what I’ve been looking for.

I run Realist pickup into Transcendent into Anyone (combo), with General Tso at the end of the chain.

As before, the NE-1 comes into its own with more signal to work with and the result is a good arco sound as well (TMM the amplified upright acid test). Naturally anyone else might not find this to their taste but since it works in my case equally well with both bass guitar and upright, it definitely ’works for me.’
