Printer recommendations

Well as most low to mid grade ink jet printers have a finite life span mine is no exception, The other day It started making old man printer noises ... you know like the grunty exhale you make getting out of bed or off the couch..and given they usually have the life span of a rat (the animal not the pedal)about 5 years or so it’s on borrowed time... probably months.. this is a good time to try and up the game a little more. My question to you that do no film decals: what printer do you use? and if you could what would you get with in reason? (it will also be used for normal printing of docs inflicted by daily life.) Not really interested in UV printing services, I actually enjoy doing as much as I can on my own... Including drilling enclosures, but I digress... your recommendations? Suggestions? Two cents?

I had a Dell laser printer that I scored for ~$250 about 5 years. I believe it was a rebranded Xerox. It was was awesome while it lasted but crapped out this year. I chose to replace it with a Brother MFC-L3770CDW. As Will mentioned above, I'd recommend seeing what the replacement toner cartridges go for on Amazon, for any printer you are considering. HP toner has a chip in the cartridge that prevents you from using bootleg toner. That was a no go for me, even though the printers are rated the best. Too early for me to recommend the Brother, I have only had it for a few months, but the replacement toners are cheap.

I use an HP laserjet mf478f9 I bought it specifically for making decals also. I've been using it for a couple of years now, and still haven't replaced the cartridges. They have been low for quite some time now, but are still printing just fine. I bought a new set for around 150 maybe. They last a helluva lot longer than inkjet.

Didn’t really think about the cartridge life replacement cost that is definitely something to research.

Damn some of you dropped serious coin on a printer....I was just looking up the model’s... looks like I will have to actually sell some pedals to justify that...lol
