All I know is it sounds awesome. Most of the synth tones we are used to are “subtractive” synth meaning you are subtracting harmonics, this is FM synthesis, meaning…….rad 80’s synth tones. I think it functions similar to ring modulation with a base and carrier wave mixing together only in more pleasing intervals as opposed to the clang of ring mod. If I can figure out how to upload a video without a YouTube account or SoundCloud I’ll drop a little demo. Otherwise check this:

I was really torn between this and the Xerograph deluxe. This is just too unique to pass up. I know it’s in the wishlists, but would love to see a diy Xerograph
Now you have been edumecated. Not everyone’s cup of tea, but right up my alley

I'm pretty sure I'm the one who put it in there. I'm doing the electric druid filter fx right now to keep myself from dropping the coin on a legit Xerograph. My biggest want there is the expression controlled lpf so maybe I'll be happy.

Yup, just ordered the filterfx. Guess I need to invest in an expression pedal. Got any recommendations? I have tried the moog ep3 with a singular pedal, seemed to be ok, but being my first foray with an expression pedal, not sure I have the proper baseline to know for sure.

I have the moog one and I think it's kinda shit. It always sounds like it's gonna break when I'm using it and the sweep isn't smooth. I also don't like how tall it is. Not sure what I'd replace it with though
It’s hard to pass up since it is only $30, but I had the same impressions of it that you do. Just not looking to drop $100+ on a mission audio or such.

so it may have been getting close to becoming a troubleshooting thread. It is a little……underwhelming(?) when I see the guts and think ab what I paid for it. Do I love the sounds? hell yes! would I have liked to build it myself? you know it!

I've used the moog for over 10 years. Though it feels cheap, mine hasn't failed me yet and I do use it quite a bit. One day I'll upgrade to a mission.
